CLIENT-EXCLUSIVE HOSTING
As part of our commitment of providing
excellent service, our hosting services are limited to our web design clients only.
Apex Wordout servers are not available to third-party entities nor other web design firms
that wish to use them. This means that your site is made available to the World Wide
Web by computers which are strictly managed to maximize performance.
Client Excusivity also means that we do not
guess your solutions and limit your choices. You get just what you need - when you
need it.
Standard wordout.net hosting
account services include:
| Virtual Domain Host |
www.YourDomainHere.com |
| Disk Space |
100
Mb
Disk Storage Space: The amount of server disk storage allocated to your
account. This space can be used to store HTML and graphics files, programs or scripts,
mail messages, compressed files, or other files that make up your web site. |
| Data Transfer (P/Mo) |
10
Gb
Data Transfer: Any outward-bound traffic from a web site, with the exception of
e-mail, is considered data transfer. Each time a visitor requests information from your
web site - its home page, images, and any video or music streams - the amount of data
transfer is calculated based on the size of the outgoing files and streams. |
| Operating System |
Unix
UNIX: A
computer operating system (the basic software running on a computer, underneath things
like word processors and spreadsheets). UNIX is designed to be used by many people at the
same time (it is multi-user) and has TCP/IP built-in. It is the most common operating
system for servers on the Internet. |
| POP3 E-mail Services |
50
POP3 E-mail accounts plus the ability to add unlimited aliases to each POP3 account.
POP Accounts: An
alternative to e-mail forwarding, which directs mail from an alias to an e-mail address,
you can retrieve e-mail directly from POP (Post Office Protocol) mailboxes on a mail
server using any standard e-mail client. All accounts include a Master POP account that
can receive all e-mail and control optional POP account settings. In addition, wordout.net
includes a at least 50 configurable POP accounts that can be assigned unique IDs and
passwords for privacy. POP (Post Office Protocol), like FTP (File Transfer Protocol)
and HTTP (HyperText Transfer Protocol), refers to a method of transmitting data over the
Internet. |
E-mail Autoresponders
and Forwarding |
Unlimited
to any hosting account with each POP3..
Autoresponders:
Sends a reply to incoming e-mail automatically. You can use this feature to reply with a
standardized message, when someone sends an e-mail to info@yourname.com, for example. Or,
you can create an automated "extended absence" reply to be sent to messages
received during your annual meditation retreat. |
| Administrative and User Control Panels |
24/7 Web Based remote access from anywhere in the world.
Control Panel:
Allows you to access your domain account, view access web statistics, manage e-mail users,
mailing lists and more! Plus each user can manage his/her own account. |
| Access to raw log files |
Access
information about your site's visitors in raw format so that you can run it through a
stats analyzer program of your choice.
Log File: A
file that lists actions that occurred. For example, web servers maintain log files listing
every request made to the server. With log file analysis tools like WebTrends, it's
possible to get a good idea of where visitors are coming from, how often they return, and
how they navigate through a site. Using cookies enables Webmasters to gather even more
detailed information about how individual users are navigating through a site. |
Available added features include
but are not limited to:
| E-Commerce |
Mercantec SoftCart (Shopping
Cart) is available in various versions. From 1-100 products up to unlimited
products. |
| Security (SSL) |
Transmit sensitive
information over the internet securely by routing pages thru our secure server area. |
| CGI Scripts |
Available for E-Forms and
other site customizing features needed to compliment your web site. |
| Front Page
Extensions |
Available at no added cost.
This feature is activated directly from the web-based control panel. |
| Real Audio/Video |
Upload music or videos for
online viewing. |
UNINTERRUPTED SERVICE
An Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS)
system monitors and regulates the external power feeds to the building housing our
servers. It acts as a buffer, protecting our servers from power dips and surges, and draws
power from batteries - and, if necessary, the diesel generators (see photos below) - the moment a feed is
interrupted. Once again, even the backup systems have backup systems: the facility draws
electricity from two independent power grids, and most of the systems are equipped with
dual power supplies. A test of the the UPS system is performed daily, and put the
batteries under load once a month.
Redundancy
No matter how excellent the equipment, no matter how expert the engineers, technology
fails occasionally. A web host with multiple routers and switches, secondary servers, and
UPS systems with backup generators can provide consistent, high-speed access and guarantee
at least 99.9% uptime.
Web hosting companies, unlike Internet Service Providers (ISPs), have high-speed lines
connected to more than one Internet "backbone" provider. This is crucial to
reliable web site performance, since network service can be compromised by technical
glitches and unexpected surges in traffic. A redundant network design allows a web host to
direct traffic away from Internet "hotspots" and along the fastest routes - and
your site remains available even if one network's service is interrupted.
The diesel generators can operate our servers for 7 days independently; off-site tape
storage; redundant servers; and links to at least three network providers - all to make
sure that your site will remain available through every crisis short
of an Extinction
Level Event (ELE)!
Reliability
Excellent web hosting providers can offer this guarantee because they've invested in the
best automatic monitoring equipment; hired experienced engineers who can anticipate
problems and emergencies; and installed redundant backup systems to take over the moment
anything goes wrong.
If a web host guarantees only 95% uptime, keep in mind that this translates into 8.4 hours
of down time per week: the equivalent of a "closed" sign on the door of your
24-hour business.
Apex Wordout's confidence in the experienced engineers and state-of-the-art equipment
shows through in its guarantee of 99.9% uptime and fast connectivity.
Security
It takes many layers of Internet security, from password protection to firewall barriers,
to prevent determined hackers from wreaking havoc with your Web data. Most hosting
companies offer some assurance that their network and software are protected from unwanted
intrusions such as spamming and hijacking. Make sure the hosting company you choose has
enough security measures in place to ensure that your data is completely protected.
Our servers are well protected, both physically and digitally. Our advanced firewall
system keeps intruders out of our network; the switches are configured to prevent data
snooping; and they are monitored with on site security 24 hours a day.
Servers
Although it's possible to host a web site on the CPU of an average personal computer,
responsive web sites require high-speed SCSI disk drives, error-correcting RAM, and the
most powerful microprocessors available. Reliable providers host their sites on equipment
built to withstand the constant bombardment of web traffic.
We host your site on the most popular platforms, and the systems are constantly upgraded
to maintain state-of-the-art technology. Our Unix servers are used under the best
conditions possible.
Speed
Web hosting companies typically connect to the Internet through T (Transmission), OC
(Optical Carrier), and DS (Digital Signal) lines. Many smaller web hosting providers still
use T1's to connect your site to the world at a rate of 1.544 megabits per second.
Apex Wordout
hosting uses redundant multiple OC3 (155.52 Mbps) lines! We
offer our clients the bandwidth they need for multiple user sessions on their site at any
given time.
SUBTERRANEAN DATA
FACILITIES
Our state-of-the art data facility is located in a
subterranean facility in a "Class A" office building in suburban Atlanta. The
facility features high security; climate-control; raised flooring; uninterruptible power
supply; sophisticated fire suppression system; redundant, high speed Internet connections
(multiple OC3s); backup batteries and diesel generators; Cisco routers and switches; and
the latest in automated backup systems. At the heart of our facility is the network
operations center (NOC), staffed 24x7 by system administrators and engineers.
We encourage you to familiarize yourself with our data center by
viewing the images below.
